Anglesea was the first permanent settlement on the 5 mile beach known today as “The Wildwoods”. And it was done so by fisherman. In 1906 the town voted to change the name to North Wildwood. The reason for the name change was a way to absorb some of the development the neighboring town of Wildwood was experiencing over the previous decade. Today North Wildwood is a vibrant shore town that boasts some of the best and cleanest beaches in New Jersey.
A must do when in North Wildwood? Hit the beach during the day, with a boogie or surf board for the best waves on the island. If riding waves isn’t your thing hang out at Seaport Pier (bar and restaurant) for live music and entertainment. Before dinner and after the beach stop by Ocean Oasis water park for discounted entry and lighter crowds after 4pm. At night visit the the entertainment district for a fun night of food, dancing, and live music. Be sure to come back during the BBQ Blues Festival and Irish Fall Festival.
